I test my "seconds" in various ways. Some, I drop from a height of
what I feel will be normal usage. Some, I freeze, to see if a defect worsens.
Others, I heat up to ensure the adhesives will stay secure. And at certain
times, I'll perform more than one test, depending on the product in question.

This Tamper has a crack near the foot and has been epoxied together and sanded and buffed so smooth, you can't feel it. I've frozen this, as well as dropped it on commercial carpeting from a height or 4 feet, and there is no evidence of additional stress. This tamper is structurally sound, and should last as long as one without the stress crack if not dropped on a hard surface.
This Tamper has a crack at the center antler band. It can be seen where the epoxy filled it in during my compressing the 3 pieces together. It has been sanded and buffed so smooth, you can't feel it.
